New unlimited paintballs concept launched by national paintball company

Skirmish Paintball sites across the UK are offering their customers a weekday package that includes an everlasting supply of paintballs for their entire session of games.

Until now, players have needed to keep an eye of how many paintballs they have left from the amount they have bought to complete the remaining games, or buy more paintballs as they go along.

So there cannot be many who have played paintball who haven’t wished for a never ending stash of paintballs at one point or another.

Now from Monday to Friday at Skirmish paintball sites customers can shoot away secure in the knowledge that their supply will be topped up at the end of every game so they always start the next game fully loaded.

Lawrence Barwick Skirmish Director said “Think of it like free refills from a bottomless coffee pot or the glass of beer that’s always full! It’s the stuff that dreams are made of”

“Our customers can enjoy an exciting full or half day of play with limitless paintballs for a fixed price no matter how many balls they fire” He concluded.

Currently celebrating their 25th anniversary, Skirmish has become one of the UK's largest and most respected paintball park operators with a network of sites across the UK and a commitment to high quality customer service, personal safety and innovative game designs.

CitySocialising pledge national support of Eden Project initiative “The Big Lunch” on Sunday 19th July 2009

CitySocialising, the real world socialising network for professionals to meet new local friends with shared interests, today announced its involvement in The Big Lunch nationally across nine of their locations in the UK.

Dreamed up by Tim Smit and Paul Twivy one morning at the Eden Project, The Big Lunch, is a national event, taking place on Sunday 19th July, which is hoping to see millions of people across Britain get together with their neighbours to share food, drink and conversation. As part of The Big Lunch, CitySocialising are organising picnics in 9 UK cities including Manchester, Leeds, Brighton, Bristol and London, where they aim to get the biggest Big Lunch group together for the day in the Capital’s Regents Park.

A community-building project, backed by partners MasterCard and EDF and a whole host of celebrities, The Big Lunch has been launched to encourage people to reach out to and get to know their neighbours and locals better. Whilst 9.6 million UK residents regularly used social networking sites in 2008, according to research conducted by the BBC, 97% of UK communities have become more fragmented in the last 30 years. 1 in 6 of us may be extolling the virtues of Web 2.0 but most of us are experiencing the isolation of what one might term “Community 1.0”.

In April of last year, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation conducted a survey of 3,500 people. Their biggest single concern, across the social spectrum, was that communities are weak and people are increasingly isolated from their neighbours. Professor of Human Geography, Daniel Dorling commented: "Even the weakest communities in 1971 were stronger than any community now."

CitySocialising is a combined online and offline social network, with a focus on members meeting up and socialising together in the real world with other likeminded people from their neighbourhoods. It is dedicated to the growing number of busy professionals who are seeking help online to organise their social lives offline and to simply meet new local friends with shared interests.

Launched in London in January 2007, CitySocialising successfully replicated the model nationally within 9 months, rolling out to 11 regional cities around the UK and Scotland, including Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow. More recently, CitySocialising has expanded its reach to cover 7 further UK regions including Newcastle, Sheffield, Cardiff, Liverpool, Oxford and Reading and further expansion, both UK and internationally, is planned in the next 4 - 6 months.

CitySocialising CEO Sanchita Saha commented:

“The Big Lunch shares exactly the same ethos with CitySocialising - of meeting and with others from your local community in the real world, so our involvement is a very natural fit. CitySocialising began life as a service for young professionals relocating to new cities through work, to make it easier to integrate into city life, where the fast-pace and lack of communities can make it difficult to meet new people. However, our 19 city networks across the UK are now equally attracting city locals reaching out to find new friends from their local area to make the most of life with.

Our picnics will be taking place all over the UK and we’d like to invite not only our existing members together, but anyone else who doesn’t have a Big Lunch going on in their own street to join us as everyone is welcome.”

Lottery.co.uk announces launch of Euromillions application

Lottery.co.uk, the UK's most popular independent lottery website, has announced the launch of a free EuroMillions lottery application. The application, which can be used with the iPhone and iPod Touch devices, delivers a wealth of information that will prove useful to any EuroMillions player.

The EuroMillions lottery application can be downloaded for free directly from iTunes and, as soon as it has been installed on an iPhone or iPod Touch device, users will be able to access a number of useful features, including a EuroMillions Results feed that is updated within minutes of the EuroMillions draw every Friday night with all the information about the latest draw. It also includes the EuroMillions lottery numbers and a complete breakdown of the prize values that will be paid out.

Users with a EuroMillions lottery ticket for a previous draw that hasn't been checked yet can utilise the Check My Ticket feature. All players have to do is enter the numbers as they appear on their ticket and then press the Check My Ticket button. They will then see how those numbers fared in previous draws. Not only could this help players to claim a prize that they didn't know about, but it could also help users to decide whether or not they want to play those same numbers in the future.

Should the user decide that they want to change their EuroMillions numbers, the EuroMillions lottery app features a Random Ticket Generator. When the player has come across a set of numbers that they like, they can then visit the Euro Lotto site and purchase the tickets.

The EuroMillions lottery application also gives access to the results of every single EuroMillions draw that has taken place since the game was launched in 2004. To access those results, users can press the Results Archive button and they will then be able to see the results for last six months or for any of the previous years.

The fact that the EuroMillions lottery application for the iPhone and iPod Touch is being given away for free to anyone who chooses to download it might surprise some, but Lottery.co.uk spokesman Sam Werren commented that the site is proud to be doing just that: "Lottery.co.uk is proud of being at the cutting edge in the lottery industry, and our main concern is to get the latest lottery results into the hands of as many people as possible," Sam explained. "Making this genuinely useful application freely available to iPhone and iPod touch users will help us to achieve that goal - and help EuroMillions players check their tickets within minutes of the draw taking place."

Social Media Changes the Face of Television

Reality Digital, The leading provider of brand focused social networking software, has indicated that the growing and ever changing world of social media and online video sharing is having a dramatic effect on modern television.

Consumption of visual materials is growing through the internet medium, with websites like Youtube and Hulu used for the mass syndication of video content. More advanced sites such as Vimeo are now providing high definition video online, proving that the constant development of video and recording technology is showing no signs of slowing down.

The possibilities that the internet has to offer broadcasters are endless. Many channels are now opting to stream their programmes over the web as well as through TV, meaning that more people are tuning into websites to view their favourite shows rather than watching the programme itself. The catch-up TV video platform is also becoming very popular, as most consumers prefer to have their programmes available, as and when they want to view them.

Social media is directly affecting television content too, with more and more programmes adopting interactive elements for audience participation, through social networks such as facebook and twitter. New programmes are beginning to be formed around the social network, rather than the opposite, showing the dominance of social media over television as a whole.

Reality Digital provides white label social network software for brands, giving them a platform on which they can build their presence on the internet. Brands can customise their platform however they choose, giving the community for each brand a unique blueprint. The software, which can be implemented in as little as two weeks, is instilled with all of the vital components of a social network, such as user generated content, media sharing and extensive video capabilities.

The Observer’s ‘Best of Fringe’ 2008 theatre ad infinitum return to Edinburgh

theatre ad infinitum is returning to the Edinburgh festival with ‘Odyssey’, after a New York residency and Arts Council support of their Spring UK Tour of ‘Behind the Mirror’.

Following last year’s critically acclaimed ‘Behind the Mirror’, theatre ad infinitum are back to reinvent Homer’s timeless Greek myth, ‘Odyssey’: one man’s epic quest to reunite with his family and seek his bloody revenge. Passionate, highly physical, and poignant storytelling brings this breathtaking adventure to life. A journey that will ignite your imagination and awaken the senses…

Since Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2008 theatre ad infinitum has had a fantastic year: they received Arts Council funding for their sell-out UK Spring 2009 Tour of Behind the Mirror. Out of 400 applications, theatre ad infinitum were chosen to represent the United Kingdom by New York’s Exchange Theatre Residency Program to begin researching for their next show in June 2009. Each year the Exchange run the Orchard Project, an envious opportunity for theatre companies and artists to develop new projects. Previous residents have included the Royal Court Theatre and National Theatre of Scotland.

Odyssey is a devised adaptation performed by George Mann and directed by Nir Paldi:

“We wanted to create a dramatic and poetic piece that really works the imagination of the audience: being a one man show this was a big challenge. The magic, characters, spaces, colours, and whole islands are all created by George and I had to push hard to find the precise world of Homer’s Odyssey, this is very much our version, but we wanted to capture the essence and poetics of the piece in what we put on stage.”

Praise for Behind the Mirror

“Inventive [and] promising stuff from new Lecoq-trained company, Ad Infinitum.”
Observer ‘Best of the Fringe’

“Mercilessly energetic, hilariously funny, fast-paced piece of Marx Brothers’ style action.”
British Theatre Guide

“An exhilarating piece of theatre … a company with a very promising future.”
Metro

“The audience find themselves at the heart of this intelligent troupe’s imagination… the energy of the performers is relentless, and nothing short of charming throughout.”

Mobile Uploads To Youtube Increase Exponentially

In the last six months, uploads from mobile phones to YouTube have jumped 1,700%; just since last Friday, when the iPhone 3GS came out, uploads have increased by 400%.

This growth represents three things coming together: new video-enabled phones on the market, improvements that make it easier to post a video to YouTube from your phone, and a new feature on YouTube that allows people’s videos to be quickly and effortlessly shared through social networks. It takes just a minute to connect a YouTube account to Facebook, Twitter and Google Reader accounts. People can complete a simple, one-time connection on the upload page to allow all their friends and followers to get a real-time stream of their uploads to YouTube, which can be essential in this age of citizen reporting and ubiquitous sharing.

Already, YouTube users are teaching each other how to use this technology, are doing product reviews and comparisons, and they are even making test videos… lots and lots of them. In fact, look at them closely -- where they're shot, who's in them -- and they stitch together a great patchwork of, well, life, from the little moments to the big ones:

Back in the UK for Ben Harper

After a sell out gig at the HMV Forum in April, BEN HARPER AND RELENTLESS7 are returning to the UK for Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park. The band will be playing on the main stage along with Fleet Foxes, The Pretenders, Seasick Steve and the legendary Neil Young on Saturday 27th June 2009.

Coming off an incredible showing at this year’s SXSW including a headlining performance at Stubb’s, an over-capacity crowd at DirecTV’s “SXSW Live,” and a legendary taping of Austin City Limits, BEN HARPER AND RELENTLESS7 released their debut record, White Lies For Dark Times on 27th April on Virgin Records. Rolling Stone calls the new album “an 11-song set soaked with hard rock and Delta Blues.”

Ben Harper and Relentless7’s energetic live performance is the heart of the band. In December 2008, the band embarked on a highly successful short club tour with a handful of dates in California and New York. “The band’s combined force was almost too big for the room,” RollingStone.com said of the band’s intimate performance at Spaceland in Los Angeles.

The sweaty, gritty and energetic vibe of the clubs proved to be an incredible match for the band’s new hard-hitting sound, and they are pleased to announce their return to the road on a larger club tour which includes UK dates. “We thought, this is a new band, a new opportunity, a new energy. Let’s earn it the way that new bands do…let’s play clubs, let’s play small places,” said drummer Jordan Richardson.

Current confirmed tour dates are listed below.

BEN HARPER AND RELENTLESS7 TOUR DATES:

REMAINING EUROPEAN TOUR DATES:

June 23 Munich, Germany TonHalle
June 25 Amsterdam, Netherlands Paradiso
June 27 London, England Hard Rock Calling Festival

http://www.hardrockcalling.co.uk/lineup/

BHR7 History:

Harper met guitarist Jason Mozersky in the late nineties, when the lead singer of
Mozersky’s then band, WAN SANTO CONDO was working as a van driver shuttling bands back and forth to the venue for a Texas promoter. He asked the then captive Ben Harper, “Can I play you my demo?” Harper obliged, and in his own words “was blown away,” and helped the band secure a record deal and release an album on Everloving Records. The band broke up after one record, but what survived was a lasting friendship between Harper and Mozersky. In 2005, Harper invited now long time friend Mozersky to lay down guitar work on a track during the recording sessions that would become a double record entitled Both Sides of the Gun. Mozersky brought along bass player Jesse Ingalls and drummer Jordan Richardson and the session would spawn not only the song
“Serve Your Soul” but the framework for Relentless7.

To reignite the chemistry discovered during the Both Sides of the Gun session, they reunited in the summer of 2008 just to jam and write songs together, and emerged with a new sound and enough tracks for an album. White Lies For Dark Times is a timeless rock record, with a cohesive collection of music that is as raw, unrelenting and thunderous, as it is arrestingly haunting and emotional.

GAME gears up with Virtua Tennis in run up to Wimbledon 2009

GAME is gearing up for Wimbledon fever, as Andy Murray sparks nationwide Wimbledon fever following his cruise to victory over James Blake in the final of the Aegon Championships at Queen's, with the launch of Sega's highly anticipated Virtua Tennis 2009 for the Wii console.

For the first time ever, Wii owners will be able to take on the likes of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer or play as Maria Sharapova against Venus Williams to recreate some classic court battles in this critically acclaimed tennis series.

What's more, the new Wii version of Virtua Tennis 2009 has been made fully compatible with Wii Motion Plus - a precision device that attaches to the bottom of the Wii Remote putting the user much more in control of the game.

Virtua Tennis 2009 producer, Toby Allen told Game.co.uk: "With the MotionPlus you can feel the difference - you're a bit more free to place the ball exactly where you want it to go … It's a more complete tennis gaming experience."

The game's developers at Sumo Digital also stress they worked hard to keep the Wii version of Virtua Tennis 2009 as close to the other platforms as possible.

Game designer Kenton Fletcher, said: "It had to have all the features the other versions did; the same online; the same in-game features. We didn't want Wii owners to buy Virtua Tennis 2009 and say why have I only got half the game that the PS3 version has?"

And for those who think arcade style tennis games like Virtua Tennis could never satisfy the more competitive streak in them, the all new Online Ranking System (which sees players rising through the ranks and competing for the ultimate title on worldwide leader boards) is sure to make them think again.

“The Art Of The Remix”: New Interactive Music Remixing Tutorial Released

As Recommended by Dirty Vegas and Jimmy Douglass, Producer/Engineer for Jay-Z, Missy Elliott and Justin Timberlake.

- The Art Of The Remix Video is Co-produced by Grammy Award-Winner Charles Dye

The Art Of The Remix is an in-depth video course taught by two remix experts. Vincent DiPasquale has worked with everyone from Timbaland to Madonna, while Steven Lee is one half of the dynamic Lee-Cabrera house music partnership with the legendary Albert Cabrera.

Together they’ve produced seven hours of essential high definition content, available to be streamed online or via a DVD, on creating a high quality remix from start to finish.

The Art Of The Remix is just like sitting right next to a couple of remix experts as they produce a track from start to finish. “Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to learn by working with some of the most talented producers on the planet,” says DiPasquale. “And people are constantly asking me if they can sit in and watch during a remix. Now they can, as we remix a song together for an actual project.”

"What sets The Art of the Remix apart is that by following each step you'll produce the exact same remix we did in the studio on your system," adds Lee. "Vincent teaches you every single step of the process, and by following along with the provided sessions, you'll be able to recreate the exact same result we delivered to the record label."

By following the video tutorial, the user can create a replica of the remix of Nadia Ali’s ‘Crash & Burn’ that DiPasquale and Lee fashioned. “The entire experience will be something they can then apply to their own remixes and studio projects,” says Steven, who provides the DJ’s perspective on the project.

Remixing, where you are given all the constituent parts to work with is a great way of getting into producing your own individual tracks. Many of today’s top producers learned their craft by starting out remixing for other people.

GAME readies for Fight Night Round 4

Hollyoaks favourites, Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries stepped into the ring exclusively for GAME to review EA SPORTS newest boxing title, Fight Night Round 4, ahead of its release on June 26th.

Both avid gamers, Matt and Darren - who interviewed winners and presenters at the GAME British Academy Video Game Awards 2009 this March - were keen to test Fight Night 4 for GAME ahead of its official release.

After ten years of working together every day, Matt and Darren admitted to having some old scores to settle so they set to the task with great enthusiasm. "We were among the first to play Fight Night Round 4, now we're just playing it in our front room, roll on June 26th when we can get online and take on the rest of the world"

The new game release is expected to be one of the biggest sports games of the year. Fight Night Round 4 uses a powerful new gameplay engine to significantly update its popular predecessors. The new engine delivers the most realistic representation of the speed, accuracy, timing and power of boxing to a game like never before.

Other new features of Fight Night Round 4 include the opportunity to upload a photograph and customise the fighter avatar with the players own face. Players can also upload their own choice of music to help their fighter walk into the ring, making their own unique style of entrance.

Darren said, "For me the gamer face was a massive plus point, the opportunity to hit Matt in the face 'virtually' was too good to miss."

Matt continued, "Yeah Darren got a bit carried away with that, the look on his face both real and on screen was quite scary. I like the analogue controls, no longer can you just mash the buttons, this time you have to plan your combos and fight with your brain as well as your fists."

Fight Night Round 4 is available for preorder on the GAME website. Matt and Darren's video review can be found exclusively at GAME.co.uk.
