So, Big Brother has risen from the ashes and will return to our screens in August, albeit on a new channel. But what do we know about the show's remarkable comeback? Let Bing guide you through the facts so far...
Big money deal Insiders say today's announcement is the result of months of negotiations between Channel 5 and BB producers Endemol. The official details are being kept under wraps but the deal is believed to a five-year agreement costing the channel a whopping £200m. Find out more on Bing. Home comforts As ever, the house will be given a full makeover before we get to see it. Rumours suggest the new, Channel 5 house will include a public telephone for contestants to contact the outside world and will host "regular champagne parties" to ensure the housemates are kept entertained. It's been announced the show will return in August for a four-week "all-star celebrity" run followed by a new, full 13-week series in September, taking it all the way through until Christmas. Rather than the evil BB and twisted BB approach Channel 4 took over the last few series of the show, reports say Channel 5 plan to give the house a theme of "playfulness and decadence" when it returns. "I think I've said goodbye," she explained recently. "Someone new should present it on a new channel. A fresh start for the show, with me still as its biggest fan looking forward." First housemates Sources claim a wish-list of celebrities have been drawn up for the show's big "all-star" comeback. Actress Joanna Lumley, former Harrods boss Mohammed Al-Fayed, The Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs and disgraced football pundit Andy Gray top the list.
